The Outsider

The Outsider is a debating programme that takes a fresh look at some of the biggest issues in India.

The show debates key political and social issues affecting the country.A controversial motion is at the centre of each debate. Speakers argue either for or against the motion as they try to convince an audience of 150 people, most of them young, to vote for them. The audience plays devil's advocate to the debaters, by looking for holes in their theories and questioning their beliefs. They aren't simply bystanders, but an active part of the debate; they get to voice their views and mould their own opinions based on what they hear.

Noted speakers like Ronnie Screwwala, Salman Khurshid, Gurucharan Das, Anil Dharker, and Shashi Tharoor have been a part of our debates in Season 1 which ended with a special on India Pakistan relations with Gen. Pervez Musharraf and Mr Jaswant Singh.

The Outsider is produced by Sobo Films and was broadcast on Bloomberg networks all over the world and on Bloomberg TV & Headlines Today in India. Season 1 was hosted by award-winning television journalist Tim Sebastian.
